Massage therapy is an ancient form of healing used for thousands of years. The holistic approach aims to restore balance within the body taking into an account the person’s whole being, not just their physical symptoms or ailments. Each session is specifically tailored to your needs and the treatment you receive will be unique, following no fixed routine, while considering much more than just superficial aches and pains.

Different types of techniques are used during the session to ensure that you fully experience your treatment.
Treatments draw from a wide range of massage techniques and may include gentle massage, stretches, relaxation work, deep tissue massage, myofascial release and/or cupping (myofascial decompression). The elements combined will be determined by your needs at any given time.

Deep Tissue Massage technique, myofascial release, and cupping are one of the best and most effective ways to treat pain, tightness and injury. If there is such a condition, we can usually find adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments that can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation. The deep tissue massage uses firm-pressure designed to release tight layers of muscle and tissue which usually develops from bad posture, injury, or overuse. Myofascial release and myofascial decompression (cupping) help decrease pain by releasing trigger points, loosing restrictions, improving circulation and decrease tension in the fascia tissue, which can become a restrictive barrier and cause tightness and pain.

Massage encourages relaxation, relieves stress, improves circulation and posture, relaxes muscles and improves flexibility, relieves tension headaches, strengthens the immune system, and can help to decrease feelings of depression. Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down the adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. Myofascial techniques improve the range of motion, reduce soreness, increase the body’s natural recovery process, help with overall relaxation, improve circulation, and relieve stress.

As well as understanding the muscular-skeletal structure of the body, the therapist will also have knowledge of key body systems, such as circulatory, lymphatic and respiratory, in order to fully understand the impact of massage on all aspects of the person. Holistic massage also incorporates an awareness of the subtle energetic body so your therapist can work with this aspect where appropriate.

The first session will include an initial consultation to determine your present and past health and lifestyle, also how you are today and how you would like to feel as a result of the treatment. Anything discussed will be treated as confidential, and based on this information, I will aim to tailor the treatment plan/massage to suit your needs. This will take approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Thereafter, sessions are 60 or 90 minutes in duration.
